A Hero At Last

Through all the pain I have had to endure,
Through all the lies I had to procure,
Through all the sorrow in my heart,
I know, now, nothing will ever keep us apart.

You've heard my voice and know it's true,
I am yours and yours only. I love you.
When things were bad and I was wrong,
You saw the good and held on.

When time was weak and tears were free,
When your face was the only one I could see,
When faith wavered and scars were to sew,
I knew I could never let go.

When I was powerless and couldn't be told,
You said I was the only one you wanted to hold.
When you thought I was out for kicks,
I let out the truth, and time plays tricks.

You sang to me when I slept.
Your face, so beautiful, in my heart, I kept.
So listen to me, my sweet, as I rhyme.
That song you heard. It was a sign.

To hold you close is all I desire.
Watch the sunset with you on a castle spire.
Feel the wind, whistling as it calms.
Feel your warmth when you're in my arms.

For what you do to me, I cannot say.
But love will hold me, eternally this way.
So now I wave 'goodbye' to the past,
Because you called me your hero, at last.

I write soothing poems of your looks.
With all those I've written, I could fill books.
Your voice reaches me, as far as I am.
My soul melts in awe, as you call me a man.

To me you are a crystal, glimmering bright.
Your aura is almost blinding to my sight.
My love, like a mountain, reaches the highest height.
You should know, forever, I will be your knight.

This poem is long, but so is my love.
You are my angel. A gift from above.
A deity, yes. And never deny,
I will always be here, to help you get by.

I feel you soul, over miles of space,
But our parting would bring tears to my face.
I will never leave you, or let you die.
I have to hear your breathless sigh.

I would spend eternity in your hell,
So that your halo rings like a bell.
Innocent and true, that's what you are.
Amazing beyond words, and my goddess by far.

But all the singing of all the birds,
Couldn't measure my ecstasy as you said those words,
For on my heart and soul, a spell you did cast,
When you made me realise, I was a hero, at last.

((To the only angel, goddess, princess and love that could ever love me for everything I am.))
